The old document on this URL tried to walk through a “normal day” with Oernoe Search in every gap. That is how you get a second article that restates How Oernoe Search handles everyday web searches. This replacement is the opposite job: when you should put the query somewhere else, or not type it at all.
Search lives at search.oernoe.com. It returns links from a public index and from approved listings. It does not diagnose. It does not open your Drive. It does not know what happened six minutes ago as reliably as a larger engine. Using it as if it did is how people get hurt or simply wasted.
Medical and emergency questions
A query about chest pain, overdose, or a child’s fever is not a ranking problem. It is a care problem. Oernoe Search will, at best, return public pages. Those pages can be wrong, stale, or written for a different country. Health at health.oernoe.com is a private notebook for records you choose to keep. It is not a clinic. How-To already says this. Repeating it here is the point.
If you are in danger, use local emergency services. If you need a clinician, use one. If you later want to store a discharge note in Health, that is what Health is for. Do not ask Search to be the middle step between a symptom and a decision.
Breaking news
Our index is smaller and slower to refresh than Google’s. A twenty-query test we published on this journal showed the obvious: news-ish queries land better on a larger engine. There is no honour in pretending otherwise. If the job is “what was announced this morning,” open a second engine or a news site. Come back to Oernoe when you want the same kind of query without a query file for ads.
Your own files and messages
Search does not index Chat threads, Drive folders, Docs, Health notes, or account settings. Those are not the public web. If you are looking for a file you uploaded, open Drive. If you are looking for a message, open Chat. Typing the filename into Search is a category error, and the empty-looking results are the product working.
The hostname map is Which Oernoe hostname does what. Look at the host in the address bar. The logo is shared. The index is not.
Logged-in silos you do not control
Gmail, a work intranet, a school portal, a bank. Oernoe Search cannot see those pages if they are behind a login, and it should not. A crawler that fetched your webmail would be a different, worse company. If the document lives in someone else’s account system, use that system’s search box.
Local map jobs we do not ship
Maps is not a live homepage product. A query that needs turn-by-turn directions, live transit, or a pin you can trust for an emergency room should not start here. We would rather send you to a tool that exists than invent a maps brochure in the journal. Older URLs that talk about Oernoe Maps as if you can open it today are being kept for old links and taken out of the index.
What Search is for
Public web pages. Approved people and company listings. Documentation that has been stable long enough to be crawled. Navigational queries for hosts we actually run. That is a real job. It is not every job. The everyday article covers how to read a result when the job does fit. This article is the stop sign in front of the jobs that do not.
Ads do not appear on search.oernoe.com. They can appear on this publisher article. That split is still true when Search is the wrong tool. Being honest about coverage is part of the same publisher standard as being honest about advertising.
If you want a habit, make Search the default for ordinary public-web lookups and keep a second engine for news and long tail. If you want a single box for every part of life, you will be disappointed here, and you should be. A product that cannot say no is not a privacy product. It is a capture product.
