Reporting Copyright Infringement
Copyright notices for this publisher site and for material available through Oernoe Search are handled at legal@oernoe.com. Oernoe is operated by Anoepal. There is no separate designated-agent portal. A complete notice should include:
- Identification of the copyrighted work, or a representative list when multiple works are covered.
- Identification and exact location of the material you want removed or disabled, including the relevant URL. For Search results, include the result URL, not only a screenshot.
- Your name and reasonable contact information.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the copyright owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
A notice that names a work but not a URL, or that is a privacy complaint dressed as copyright, will be sent back for the missing piece. We cannot waive these items because the mail is urgent.
Publisher pages versus Search results
www.oernoe.com publishes journal articles, guides, How-To, and company pages that we wrote. If one of those pages uses your work without permission, say so and include the www URL. Oernoe Search at search.oernoe.com indexes pages published elsewhere on the public web, plus people and company listings that went through an approval step. A Search result is often someone else's page. Taking down our copy of a result is not the same as unpublishing the source. If you also need the source down, you still have to deal with that publisher.
What Happens After a Notice
We review sufficiently complete notices and may remove or restrict access to the identified material. For a page we published on www.oernoe.com, that can mean editing or taking the page down. For a Search result, that can mean dropping or restricting the result while the source still exists elsewhere. We may send a copy of the notice to the person who provided the material and may document actions needed to address repeat infringement. Incomplete, misleading, or fraudulent notices may delay review and may create legal liability.
Counter-Notice
If your material was removed because of a copyright notice and you believe the removal resulted from mistake or misidentification, email a signed counter-notice to legal@oernoe.com. Include the removed material and its former location, your contact information, a statement under penalty of perjury that removal resulted from mistake or misidentification, your consent to the jurisdiction required by applicable law, your agreement to accept service of process from the original complainant, and your physical or electronic signature. After a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material unless the original complainant files a court action as required by applicable law. Do not send a counter-notice if you are not the person whose material was removed.
Other Legal Concerns
Copyright notices are only for copyright claims. Report privacy concerns to privacy@oernoe.com, using the process in How a privacy request is handled. Safety or service issues go to support@oernoe.com. Other legal matters go to legal@oernoe.com. A privacy request, a copyright notice, and a product bug are three different packets. Mixing them in one mail slows all three.
